This blog describes our efforts to take an unpublished screenplay and make the greatest movie of all time.
It was written in the summer of 2012 and has gone through several rewrites since then. We have had some minor success with it, including first runner up in the October 2012 Scriptvamp Attention Grabbers Award, and have had a lot of feedback. Some useful, some not so useful!
Why are we doing this? The biggest problem with screenwriting, other than actually getting something written that isn’t awful, is getting noticed. After all, it takes a small army to produce a movie, and why should anyone trust a couple of untested writers that they’ve never heard of?
Instead of waiting for someone to find us, we’re going to recruit our own small army of (hopefully) enthusiastic and (certainly) unpaid cast and crew to create a staged reading of The Red Queen Hypothesis. When we’re finished, we’ll have a unique feature length movie that is a mix between live action, back projection and script reading that Hollywood producers will be queuing up to buy.
At least, that’s part of the dream. The other part is to be part of of something exciting and creative that everyone can be proud of. Want to get involved? See the Cast and Crew pages for lists of what we need. Casting will take place in March/April 2013 and shooting will take place over three days in July 2013, in Limerick, Ireland.
Not in Ireland but want to be involved? We need everything from sound effects to proofreaders to sandwiches, so please drop me a line if you want to be part of it!
